The Automotive 30% Club’s Inspiration for Innovation Network launches new ambitious school outreach programme for 2022/3!

The Automotive 30% Club’s Inspiration for Innovation Network returns, for its sixth year, kindly sponsored by The IMI for 2022-23, with the opportunity for the first time for ALL members to be involved.

Julia Muir, Founder of the Club and Lesley Woolley, COO of The IMI and a Patron of the Club, are tremendously excited about the IMI’s sponsorship for this year’s Inspiration for Innovation Network and its programme of events. The research the IMI conducted for the Diversity Task Force in 2021, reported that children as young as 6 are already making decisions about what they want to do and be when they grow up, so the chance to be involved in some of the many school activities led by the Network will give the IMI the opportunity to win the hearts and minds of future automotive employees.

This year with the help of the IMI and our incredible network of volunteers from within our Automotive 30% Club member organisations, we will not only be connecting with primary and secondary schools throughout the UK, but we will be amplifying our message by giving our members  the tools and support to reach out to schools in their area and create their own outreach programme. Each of our 2022/23 campaigns will be communicated on the Automotive 30% Club’s social media platforms, with a selection of video snippets from our volunteers, photos of their involvement in the schools outreach, and articles explaining more about their experience as a volunteer! Automotive 30% Club members who take part in our Inspiration for Innovation Network campaigns will be tagged in our content, so we can spread the word further and amplify our message to as many people as possible.

This year’s programme for schools will see inspiring women from across the sector, from diverse backgrounds and businesses, visiting schools to share their career stories and pathways. They will share their knowledge,  their challenges, and successes through targeted talks and work-related challenges. All with the aim of inspiring the next generation of automotive women.

Last year, we ran a series of virtual sessions across several schools with our amazing volunteers using our suite of Career Conversations and Essential Skills episodes.  Schools felt that the honesty and advice that the volunteers provided really made the students think about the opportunities that the automotive sector offers and provided much-needed advice for their career journeys. This year we will be adding to our suite of Career Conversations with some of our Inspiring Automotive Women Winners for 2022.

Julia Muir, Founder of the Automotive 30% Club says:
“I’m extremely pleased that our Club Patron Lesley Woolley, COO of the IMI, has kindly agreed that the IMI will be the sponsor of a “new look” Inspiration for Innovation Network that is bigger and better for 2022/23. This sponsorship by the IMI directly and swiftly responds to the finding in the IMI’s Diversity Task Force report that more needs to be done to promote automotive careers and our members as inclusive employers of choice. It will be great to work with the IMI team on our outreach activities”.

Lesley Woolley, COO of The IMI says:
“The IMI are excited to be sponsoring in the Inspiration for Innovation Network for the remainder of 2022 and 2023. We believe that young people should be able to see that they can do whatever they want, in whatever sector they choose. And for those of us already working in the automotive sector, it is imperative that we ensure those future generations can see that our sector will inspire, enthuse and reward them equally. We hope to help inspire the next generation with this year’s Inspiration for Innovation Network activities.”
