Tom Kilroy, CEO, Keyloop

“Tom is passionate about addressing the gender balance in the automotive technology sector and building a diverse workplace. From the leadership team and throughout the organisation, he believes that the best decisions will be made by creating an environment that enables diverse and creative thinking.”

Our mission at Keyloop is to create technology that makes everything about buying and owning a car better. We believe that having diverse and creative thinking in our organisation enables us to continually develop and deliver innovative technology solutions for the industry.

A diverse workforce will be essential in advancing the automotive industry and the technology that powers it because it will bring together different perspectives, ideas, and ways of thinking. Increasing the number of women in the automotive industry at large is a core part of this, to help create a gender-balanced environment.

We are extremely proud to be long-term members of the Automotive 30% Club, pledging to meet the goal of having women in 30% of key leadership positions by 2030. In addition to joining the club, we are especially proud to sponsor the Inspiration for Innovation Network, which has already seen our own volunteers visiting schools, an experience that they found invaluable.

By connecting with school-aged children across the country and providing them with real life examples of work within the automotive industry, we’re on the front line of busting outdated perceptions and encouraging young talent (boys and girls!) to consider jobs and roles they may not have even heard of before. The Keyloop volunteer team really enjoyed taking part in the Career Conversations episodes, sharing their unique career stories and perspective on how exciting working in automotive tech can be.

Engaging with the future minds and leaders of the automotive industry is important to us and a fundamental part of our company culture. Within our own business, we run an annual University Dealer Tech competition, calling on university students across the UK and Ireland to submit their innovative and fresh new technology ideas that can make an impact in the automotive retail industry. We were delighted to have 30% Club Founder Julia Muir join the judging panel in last year’s competition, building our relationship with the Club and its goals
even further.

As a Patron, I could not be more excited and honoured to be involved in increasing female employment at all levels, building a larger pipeline of talented women in the automotive industry, and actively working to close the gender gap. The automotive industry is evolving; it’s becoming more connected, collaborative, and cutting edge every day, and we want to be leading that change. The diverse perspectives and experiences are fundamental in creating advanced technology and delivering outstanding services to our customers. From myself and everyone at Keyloop, we look forward to continuing our work with the 30% Club and fostering the future game-changers of the automotive industry.
