This Girl Is Me is a very warm and motivational campaign that marks International Day of the Girl, a day aimed at bringing attention to girls’ rights and the challenges they face globally. It also asks female role models in businesses to raise awareness about things that can hold girls back from achieving. Our campaign highlights the challenges faced by UK automotive women when they were girls, and showcases a huge variety of automotive women who tell their personal stories of their journey from being a girl, overcoming barriers and hurdles, and reaching a successful career in the automotive sector. The campaign is open to any woman working within the automotive industry.

Their stories are inspiring to read, and give our amazing talented and resilient women the opportunity to reflect on how far they have come and what they have achieved. The overall purpose of the campaign is to boost pride and self-esteem in the female participants, and to encourage other young women to see them as relatable “real” models and follow them into an automotive career. LinkedIn is the social media platform associated with careers, and we hope our wonderful “This Girl Is Me” stories will reach potential automotive recruits and their families.

This popular campaign will run on LinkedIn from October 12th to 16th. We encourage women from across the automotive sector to write a short letter to their younger selves, acknowledging the challenges they faced as girls and describing how they found success and belonging in the automotive industry. This year, we also ask that they list three key achievements they are proud of and their aim for the future. We also have a new exciting enhancement to the campaign – the 3 women who post the best This Girl Is Me stories will be given a Special Recognition Inspiring Automotive Women Award!
