“Meaningful change across the transport industry will only come when we work together as leaders to deliver a more equitable and inclusive future.
I’m incredibly proud to join the Automotive 30% Club, a community of industry figures committed to improving gender balance and representation at all levels.

From electrification to smart infrastructure, how we move people and goods is being fundamentally reimagined. But amid this transformation, we need to ask a more searching question: who is shaping that future? And does our industry truly reflect the customers, communities, and society it exists to serve?

The latest Women in Transport Equity Index makes clear that progress on gender inclusion is stalling. This should be a wake‑up call for all of us.

A transport system designed and led without a diverse range of perspectives risks blind spots in innovation, customer experience, and long‑term sustainability. If our customers do not all look the same, think the same or travel in the same way, then neither should the teams building the future of transport.

That is why I am proud to support the Automotive 30% Club.

Real change does not happen by chance. It requires sustained leadership commitment, transparency, and accountability. It means challenging outdated norms, widening talent pipelines, and ensuring that women are not only recruited into the sector, but supported, developed and visible at every level.

At Lloyds Banking Group, and within our Transport business, we have seen first‑hand what is possible when inclusion is treated as a strategic priority rather than a “nice to have”. We have made meaningful progress on gender balance and representation, supported by inclusive hiring, mentoring, sponsorship and strong internal networks. But we are equally clear that there is more to do, particularly in enabling more women to step into senior leadership roles.

The Automotive 30% Club plays a vital role in driving this agenda across the industry, creating a powerful community of leaders committed to measurable change.

Because a more inclusive transport sector is not just fairer – it is better for customers, better for business, and essential to building a transport system that works for everyone.”
