Meet Katie Saunders, HR Director at JCT600 and IAW Award Winner for 2019

Katie first started her career in the motor industry 20 years ago, joining JCT600 in 2014. In her current role, her responsibilities include; recruitment, employee engagement, learning and talent programmes, employee relations, career development and supporting the senior leadership team. 

Katie is constantly driving the flexible working agenda, which she is proud to say JCT600 have made strides with in the last three years. JCT600 promotes women in all levels of the business, and ensures their apprentice recruitment is balanced. Katie comments: “I visit schools to talk about the industry, and we run local college programmes to encourage work experience and to open students’ minds to the possibility of a career in the automotive industry. 

She continues: “We also actively encourage females to apply for Sales roles through targeted advertising and internal moves, and we utilise our wonderful female role models within the company to inspire others.”Katie is a key supporter of the UK Automotive 30% Club’s activities and took part in the Inspiring Automotive Women Day outreach events.

She believes that there is nothing more rewarding than watching colleagues progress within their careers with help from the team at JCT600 and states that both learning and development are great passions in her life. Katie explains that she is constantly humbled and inspired by the brilliant characters in JCT600 and the amazing product they sell. 

Upon hearing the news of her nomination, Katie commented: “I had quietly hoped we would have a few nominations at all levels of the company – having 40 which is amazing! On being chosen myself, just ‘blimey!’”
