2020 Women in Automotive Industry Study, Driving greater diversity and inclusion within the automotive industry

The 2020 Women at the Wheel Women in the Automotive Industry Study was recently published by our Inspiring Super-Network friends Women at the Wheel, a network founded by Sarah Noble, Director Deloitte MCS Ltd in 2016.
In case you missed it, here is another chance to read the findings. It was reassuring to see that 60% of respondents felt there had been some positive change and an additional 23% had seen marked positive changes. However a disappointing 6% felt it actually got worse. Most sobering was the finding that 40% of respondents would choose a different industry if they were to start their career over again, so there is a significant number of disaffected women in the sector and we must take action to address this issue.  Less of a surprise was that 90% felt that women were underrepresented in leadership roles.

The report very helpfully describes the journey to a gender balance through a “D&I Maturity Spectrum”, as organisations travel through the phases of Compliant, Emergent, Embracing, Collaborating to Inclusive and I urge you to read and fully digest the rich information within the report, and use it to influence your understanding of how automotive women view the sector. I’m very pleased to announce that Sarah Noble will be participating in a Masterclass in our Automotive 30% Club Conference and we will bring you more details about this and other participants soon.
