Tara Green
We had the pleasure of speaking with Tara Green, Payroll Manager at AvailableCar in our latest Real Model Interview.

Tara outlines her future career aspirations at AvailableCar, including her latest opportunity, to set up an HR portal for all employees. She highlights the importance of being around people with a positive attitude and hopes to be recognised as an inspiration to others.

What is your job and what does it involve?

I work as a Payroll Manager for Available Car. It involves a wide range of duties and responsibilities, the most important one of course is ensuring all 670 team members are paid accurately and on time.
How long have you worked in the sector and what attracted you to the sector?

I have worked in the automotive industry for just over 16 years and still love it!

What is your career history?

I have worked in Payroll for 26 years, after gaining my Payroll Diploma at the young age of 19.

What do you like best about your job?

I like working within such a friendly environment and enjoy the conversations and laughs you can have within the workplace. You spend more time at work than home and should enjoy it.

My job varies from one day to the next which keeps the job interesting, even though demanding at times, but I do like a good challenge.

What are your future aspirations?

Being part of AvailableCar family is something I am very proud of, and I hope to keep on developing and growing with the Company as I have over the past 16 years. I have been on a huge journey already, from running one site (approximately 80 employees) to 4 sites (approximately 670 employees) to setting up a new payroll system single-handedly. I have now been given the opportunity to expand my skills and set up an HR portal for all employees within the business. I am very excited to see the outcome.

What makes you happy?

If my family and friends are happy, I am happy! I am happy being around people with positive attitudes and vibes.

What is your worst trait?

I am a worrier and overthinker.

I tend to worry over the smallest things for example, “how is that spider ever going to land without breaking all eight legs after I’ve gone to all that effort to save it and just thrown it out of the top floor window!?”

How would you like to be remembered?

As an inspiration to others – anyone can reach their goals in life.

What advice would you give to women who are wanting to progress in the sector?

Come and work at Available Car.
