“Gender balance is a subject that’s really close to my heart,” admits Neil Williamson, Group CEO at Jardine Motors. He supports the UK Automotive 30% Club initiative because he believes that 30% of any minority becomes significant because it gets a voice. As he remarks: “If it’s one out of 10 or two out of 10, even if you’re brilliant and effective and amazing, you’re just not heard. Because there’s not enough people like you. But once you get 30% and above, then you’re heard.” He adds that line managers and senior managers understand it makes better business.
