The Automotive 30% Club host their annual Inspiring Automotive Women Day for 2021

The Automotive 30% Club is pleased to be hosting their annual Inspiring Automotive Women Day once again this year!

Our 2021 event will be the sixth Inspiring Automotive Women Day for the Club and is kindly sponsored by Marshall Motor Group this year. For the second year running, this event will be held digitally for 13 secondary schools across the country, with 20 primary and secondary schools also receiving either a virtual or face-to-face visit from inspiring women from across the Automotive 30% Club Patron and member organisations.

On the 16th of November, 400 female students will tune into the inspirational event, to find out about the diverse and exciting job opportunities available in the automotive sector. The digital activities will enable students to hear from a panel of young ‘real model’ women, who will speak about their personal education and career journeys, to give valuable advice and guidance to the students. The event will also include a Career Speed Networking session, where students can speak to women in technical roles, aftersales, engineering, manufacturing, and digital apprentices, before carrying out a range of tasks that relate to roles within the sector, such as data analytics, marketing, sales, and technology.

In addition to the virtual event, our Inspiring Automotive Women Day will also include a range of outreach activities going into 20 schools across the country to reach a further 600 youngsters. Our Automotive 30% Club Patron and member organisations will be engaging with both primary and secondary schools in their locality, to speak to the pupils about the wide variety of jobs and opportunities on offer in the automotive industry.

Julia Muir, Founder of the Automotive 30% Club comments:

Inspiring Automotive Women Day has become an important date in the calendar that school representatives love their students to experience. We know that the automotive industry simply isn’t on the career radar of most girls, and they have very little knowledge of the huge variety of jobs available to them, but those participating always leave with the understanding that there is a role that would suit them perfectly somewhere in the sector. Inspiring Automotive Women Day is based on the principle that “if you can see it you can be it”,  and our wonderful volunteer female “real models” from across the Club membership always make an amazing positive impression on the girls, sharing their career stories and personal advice.  They also find the experience extremely rewarding too. Thanks so much to Daksh Gupta and Marshall Motor Group for sponsoring this year’s campaign.

Daksh Gupta, CEO of Marshall Motor Group added:

Marshall are proud to be sponsoring the Inspiring Automotive Women Day, which is so important in inspiring young women to consider a career in the automotive sector. We continue to work hard at improving the gender balance within our sector and one of the reasons I was so keen to sponsor this particular event is because it gives young female students a real insight into the exciting opportunities on offer, beyond selling or repairing cars, ahead of them choosing their options at school. I am really proud that a selection of our fantastic women will be involved in this event to inform and inspire the students by sharing their experiences and career journeys to date. Young people are our future so it’s really important that we continue to find ways to promote this fantastic sector and ensure we have the best opportunity to attract a diverse workforce.
